LSM Wins WebAward for Third Consecutive Year

LSM Wins ‘Standard of Excellence’ Award

Nashville, TN: LSM’s proud to announce that the website platform we built for Dental Marketing & Management Group (DMMG) a dental support organization providing clinical and non-clinical services to 22 dental offices across 4 states, won the ‘Standard of Excellence’ Award at the 2019 WebAwards! This is the third year in a row that our work has been recognized for a WebAward!

Hosted by the Web Marketing Association, the WebAward Competition is the premier award recognition program for website developers and advertising agencies. Now in its 17th year, the WebAward program is the longest running annual website award competition in the world! Each site is assigned to three or more expert judges for evaluation.  The judges are notified of the mission statement and targeted audience for the website. They are not informed who submitted the entries or which categories the site is submitted into. The judges then reviews the website by assuming the role of a targeted user. After analyzing the site, they enter their results and record their observations and comments.

The website platform, combined with LSM’s search engine optimization services, helped DMMG increase YoY organic website traffic by 74% and online appointment requests by 19%!

Google My Business Optimization Tactics

Google My Business (GMB) profiles are listings that let businesses manage how they appear on Google Search and Maps. These profiles are a quintessential element of an optimized digital marketing ecosystem because they contribute to:

  • First Impressions: They are the FIRST THING someone sees when they search on Google for your locations (i.e. “Massage Envy La Jolla” or “Amazing Lash Studio near me”).
  • SEO: According to the marketing analytics company Moz, GMB profiles account for 25.12% of the local SEO equation.

Recently, Google has implemented a series of upgrades to their GMB platform, and there will be many more to come! This infographic is designed to help your business capitalize on the features that exists today.

Google My Business Infographic Summary

Location Groups

  • Set up a location group (formerly known as ‘Business Accounts’) for your brand’s GMB profiles. This will provide the franchisor with the ability to add, verify/claim, and manage their network’s profiles, giving them a level of control over the content on the accounts, as well as the ability to delete accounts for closed locations and claim new locations without the need of a pesky postcard.

Naming Convention

  • Use a consistent naming convention for your locations. The name of each location’s GMB profile should include a local indicator. For example, instead of having the same ‘TITLE Boxing Club’ listed for every location, they include local indicators such as “TITLE Boxing Club – Green Hills” and “TITLE Boxing Club – East Nashville.”
  • Bonus SEO Tip: When possible, consider including a keyword in your naming convention. Pop-A-Lock includes “Locksmiths” in their naming convention (example: “Pop-A-Lock Locksmiths of Phoenix”), improving their GMB profile’s rank on local locksmith-related searches.

Categories

  • You have the option to choose one ‘Primary’ category and multiple ‘Secondary’ categories. Be sure to select relevant answers for all available category boxes, with the ‘Primary’ category being the most important one.
  • Bonus SEO Tip: Consider mixing up your ‘Primary’ category over the course of the year. For example, An HVAC company could have ‘Heating Contractor’ as their primary category during the winter and Air Conditioner Repair Service’ in the summer.

Service Area

  • Service-based companies like locksmiths, plumbers, and electricians do not want to list their address on Google. By setting up a ‘Service Area’ in their listing, you can let customers (and Google’s algorithm) know all the specific cities you cover.

Services / Menu

  • You want to submit and publish information related to your products and services. This is a terrific way to inform Google about the specific offerings your company provides, improving your chances of ranking highly on search queries related to those offerings.

About

  • While the general messaging can be the same across your GMB profiles’ ‘About’ sections, be sure and make it unique to each location by including localized keywords (i.e. city, neighborhood, service area, local membership information), handicap accessibility information, and links to the locations’ Facebook page.

Photos

  • Upload high-resolution photos of your business (interior, exterior, employees in action).
  • Bonus SEO Tip: These pictures are indexed by Google, so rename each picture file. For example, before you upload a picture named ‘8102.jpg’ to your GMB profile, change the file name to something like ‘Scenthound – West Palm Beach, FL – Dog Grooming.jpg.’ By doing so, Google better understands the content of your picture, helping the image to rank highly on image-based Google search queries related to each location in your franchise network.

Hours of Operation

  • Ensure that your hours of operation are accurate at all times.  You can manually edit your listed HoH, and you can set up ‘special hours’ designed to highlight your hours of operation during major holidays. This can be done at a national level if you have a location group set up!

Posts

  • Promote special offers to potential customers via Google Posts. For example, LSM set up posts for TITLE Boxing Club highlighting kickboxing and fitness classes. Over a 12-week period, the posts generated 615 leads and $21k in new membership revenue!

Video

  • Repeat the same process mentioned in the ‘Photos’ section.

Followers/Offers

  • Google recently introduced the ability to ‘follow’ GMB profiles. This is similar to how someone ‘Likes’ a Facebook Page and begins seeing posts published by that page. We suggest you encourage folks to follow your profile, and share offers directly with your followers to show how much you appreciate their loyalty.

Results

  • Visit your GMB dashboard to review key metrics at national and local levels. Setting up proper UTM codes and conversion goals allows you to better understand the number of people viewing your GMB profiles and taking action (i.e. website visits, phone calls, direction requests, etc.).

GMB Case Study

  • LSM implemented much of what I just covered in European Wax Center’s SEO strategy. Using an apples-to-apples YoY comparison, our GMB optimization efforts generated a 108% increase in discovery searches, a 105% increase in website actions, a 46% increase in phone actions, and a 26% increase in total views.

Conclusion

  • Optimizing your GMB ecosystem provides your business with better control over how your brand is displayed throughout your entire network, ensuring better first impressions, greater online visibility, and more new customer opportunities. Google continues to refine its GMB product (example: they’re beta testing a ‘Product Collection’ that gives businesses an option of listing their products along with a description, price, image, and call-to-action), so expect more features to be released over the coming 12-24 months. The 2018 MarCom Awards have named LSM a Platinum Winner for our use of our proprietary client reporting dashboard technology with our franchise clients. Administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), the MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Entries come from professionals in a range of fields, including corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

MarCom’s Platinum Award is presented to those entries judged to be among the most outstanding entries in the competition. Platinum Winners are recognized for their excellence in terms of quality, creativity and resourcefulness. There were over 6,500 entries from 20 countries in the MarCom Awards 2018 competition and only roughly 17 percent were chosen for this award. LSM is incredibly honored to be recognized by the MarCom Awards for our hard work in developing the best possible reporting tool for our clients.

Creating a Scalable Reporting Platform for Multi-Location Businesses

When managing a multi-location business such as Massage Envy or TITLE Boxing Club, overseeing and managing lead tracking and reporting can become even more complex. Our proprietary dashboard technology makes it easy for our clients to understand the origin and lifetime value of customers generated from their web assets (i.e. websites, landing pages, online ads, and local listings), helping them to make informed decisions about their digital marketing strategy.

“We had tried a number of off-the-shelf reporting solutions, but nothing we tried had all of the integrations and features we needed,” said Jeff Siebach, LSM’s Chief Technology Officer, on the origin of LSM’s reporting dashboard. “By building our reporting platform internally, we can include KPIs from all of the tools we use, as well as directly communicate with our clients through the platform. We’re nimble and able to adapt to new technologies more quickly thanks to our fast-acting and brilliantly talented dev team.”

As General Manager of TITLE Boxing Club in Rockville, LSM client John Reber enjoys the heightened lead generation tracking capabilities of the LSM dashboard. “Prior to using this tool, I was tracking our prospects with a color coded spreadsheet to see where our lead generation was coming from. I absolutely love the dashboard… it’s very easy to use and the content it generates for you is super helpful in tracking where your dollars should be spent. Not only can see where your leads are coming from, you can see the money it’s generating for your business!”

Team LSM Takes On The Escape Game

For our last quarterly meeting of 2018, LSM decided to hone some team-building at The Escape Game Nashville. The Escape Game is a timed 60-minute interactive challenge. It’s just you and your team against the clock, racing to see if you can solve a series of puzzles and successfully escape before time runs out. While your exact escape challenge differs depending on the escape room that you choose, they all have one primary objective: to escape as fast as possible. After dividing our office into two mission-ready teams, we headed over to The Escape Game Nashville to test our problem-solving skills.

Why The Escape Game? LSM is always looking for new corporate team-building activities to build our team’s confidence and skillset in tackling difficult challenges together. The Escape Game is the perfect company outing because it requires our team to come together and practice effective communication, teamwork, and trust. Without a strong team foundation, it’s that much harder to pull off a successful escape. Escape games are highly interactive, engaging, and memorable, making them a great way to have fun with your company while also practicing some crucial collaborative skills.

Choosing Our Escape

The Escape Game Nashville has seven escape rooms total: Special Ops, Playground, The Heist, Mission: Mars, Gold Rush, Prison Break, and Nashville. Each escape game is a completely immersive experience, with custom-designed rooms that make you feel as if you’ve been transported right into a movie. We wish we could have had the time to try out all of them, but we had to narrow down our escape room choices to two rooms: Gold Rush and The Heist. With sixty minutes on the clock, each team had to work together to figure out how to escape the room before the time ran out.

Gold Rush

In the Gold Rush escape game, Team LSM was on the hunt for gold. For one hour, we traced the footsteps of Clyde Hamilton, a greedy gold prospector in Northern California. A gambling addict, Clyde disappeared after making too many bets with the wrong crowd. We were tipped off as to where he stashed his gold before his mysterious disappearance, but the mob was onto us. We only had sixty minutes to find the gold and escape the room before it was too late. We made it out of the escape room before the mob found us with just 13 minutes to spare!

The Heist

The Heist escape game was just as intense. In this escape room, LSM had to try and beat a thief at his own game. An expert thief had stolen a famous piece of art and it was our job to try and recover this irreplaceable masterpiece before the authorities found us and mistook us to be the real thieves. Just like our first team, this LSM team was able to escape the room…with only 13 minutes left as well! Both teams were given free “I Escaped” stickers to prove we had made it out in time.

LSM’s Top 3 Escape Room Tips

Thinking about heading down to The Escape Game Nashville and trying out an escape room for the first time? After our day of escaping, we’ve got a few tips we can share:

  1. Split up. It takes a big group to successfully escape the room before time runs out, so make sure you use your numbers to your advantage. Each room has dozens of puzzles to solve. If everyone in your team is only focusing on one puzzle at a time, you’ll never escape the room in time. Instead, make sure your team is dividing themselves into small groups and taking on different puzzles so that you can be working on multiple at once and hopefully increase your escape time.
  2. Mix it up. Been working on the same puzzle for several minutes but not having any luck? Try mixing it up by asking other team members to take a look. Fresh eyes and a new perspective can help you spot something you may have missed before.
  3. Use your hints. You’re given three free hints with each escape game. Don’t be afraid to use them! Even the best escape room teams will get stuck a few times during the game, and since the first three hints are free, using them won’t affect your overall escape time. Just make sure that everyone on your team agrees to use a hint, and let your game monitor know!

Want to try your own luck at escaping from The Escape Game rooms but don’t live in Nashville? The Escape Game has 7 other locations, including The Escape Game Austin, The Escape Game Chicago, The Escape Game Dallas, The Escape Game Houston, The Escape Game Minneapolis, The Escape Game Orlando, and The Escape Game Pigeon Forge.

Check out The Escape Game’s blog, Facebook and Instagram to learn more about escaping the room!

LSM Cleans Out the Office

The Leaves Are Changing, But LSM Is Staying Green

This past August, the LSM team spent some time going around the office collecting a number of old flash drives, cords, and other electronic devices that were no longer in use. Not wanting to throw these items away and harm the environment, we decided to go on a recycling spree. We asked our team to contribute any plastic or electronic items they had around the office and at home to make sure we could have the greatest impact possible.

Why recycle electronic devices?

Since 2015, Metro Nashville has asked for businesses and residents to recycle their electronic waste. Electronic devices can contain materials and chemicals that are hazardous to the environment and can cause some pretty bad damage when thrown in the trash. Plus, many devices have components that can be reused, reducing the energy spent when manufacturing new electronic devices. We’re a pretty tech-heavy team, so we had a hefty pile of electronics that was growing with each passing month. We wanted to make sure that we disposed of our old electronics properly to avoid causing any harm to our community and to respect and follow Metro Nashville’s guidelines.

So what did LSM do?

Together, the LSM team gathered all the recyclable items from both our office and our homes. All packed up, we drove over to our neighborly Best Buy on Charlotte Ave, which has an electronics recycling center. We made sure to check with Metro Nashville’s Public Works Department first to ensure we had identified the proper location to recycle our devices.

Between all of our employees, we successfully recycled over 70 electronic items. We packed the recycling bins with so much stuff that they actually started to overflow! But we didn’t just stop there – we also made sure to recycle 75 more plastic bags and containers that we’d had hanging around the office. All in all, a pretty good haul. Check out our graphic below to learn more about how LSM keeps green.

Join LSM on our recycling mission!

While LSM is grateful for the recycling services offered by our local BestBuy, that’s not the only location around town where you can recycle your electronics. Visit Nashville.gov to learn more about electronic waste recycling and find your nearest drop-off location.
